My name is Joe Bourland. I live in and was born in the great state of Texas, a West Texan through and through. I started designing dolls in March of 2001. Getting into designing was purely an accident. Designing Barbies was my sister's dream not mine. I had not even looked at a Barbie in over 30 years. Against my better judgment, a used Barbie, and a few scraps of material (from a nearby Wal-Mart), I started my first attempt at "dressing a Barbie". What a nightmare that design was! Several months and scrapped designs later I'm having the time of my life. I never had this much fun playing with Barbies when I was a little girl, when Barbie first came out. I have no degrees or formal training in design work. My dreams are my institutions of learning for my doll designs. I never imagined myself designing dolls, now it's an everyday love affair. My awards include the BMAA Reader's Choice and the CustomDolls convention Best of Show.
