mesmerizing repaints and intricate details are qualities of
Joe Bourland
and her beautiful dolls
My name is Joe Bourland. I live in and was born in the great state of Texas, a West Texan through and through.
I started designing dolls in March of 2001. Getting into designing was
purely an accident. Designing Barbies was my sister's dream not mine. I had
not even looked at a Barbie in over 30 years. Against my better judgment, a
used Barbie, and a few scraps of material (from a nearby Wal-Mart), I
started my first attempt at "dressing a Barbie". What a nightmare that
design was! Several months and scrapped designs later I'm having the time of
my life. I never had this much fun playing with Barbies when I was a little
girl, when Barbie first came out.
I have no degrees or formal training in design work. My dreams are my
institutions of learning for my doll designs. I never imagined myself
designing dolls, now it's an everyday love affair. My awards include the BMAA Reader's Choice and the CustomDolls convention Best of Show. You can find my dolls listed for sale on the web site:
FDM Boutique
I also sell my dolls on Ebay in the ooak doll section, under
the designer name rjbour.
My sister that got me into all this, designs under the name Kattlyn and her
designs can be found on this site......
