Since I was a little boy, I saw my mother sewing
clothes everyday. She designed and made dresses for
customers. Life was so hard and I had to help my
Mom. Naturally, I know how to sew, and how to
design a dress. I was so interested in it, but my mother
told me that if I went on this way, I would be empty, and
get nothing when I was old!! She said, "Look at me, I
design and make so many fashions. I am still so
poor. I have to work everyday, so that we can
only have enough food to eat."
I didn't believe that! I really like to design! But
nothing helped...
I could only study, study, study. And still, I never forgot what I used to love. I tried to read more books about fashion design and at
that time, I started learning how to make doll figures
with clay. In junior high school, an art teacher who
was a good sculptor came to my life (how lucky I
am) and she taught me a lot of techniques of
sculpting! Then, I learned how to paint and something which
was called "ART" in senior high school.
Finally, I went to a teacher college and majored in child
literature. During this period, I wrote a lot of
aricles and won several prizes of poems and child
literature. But I never felt satisfied.
One day, my English professor asked us to put on a
drama in school day,and we work hard for
that. But,there was a big problem... we didn't
have costumes for our actors, and that was really
trouble! At that time, it seemed a voice told me, You
can make it!" I stood up and told everyone, "I
can make the costumes!"
Yes, I returned to making clothes! And, they loved my
designs! More and more school groups asked me to design
costumes for them! Even my classmate who took part in the
Taiwan "Miss Flower" beauty competition asked me to
make an evening gown for her. It was my pleasure to do that.
Then, I had my first fashion show before I graduated
from teacher college. I finally knew what I really like
and had to do!
By the way, I met Barbie at that time, she is so
beautiful and so different from the clay dolls I made
before. I started to put on my designs on her, and
that looks great! She is such a "little model" and what's the best is I
don't have to change the dress size a lot of times and use a lot of clothes!
This is all of the story, and I think I will continue
to make more and more artist dolls. They bring me
huge amounts of joy, and I will treat them as super
models. Thanks for listening to me and sharing my
story. Let's build the doll dreams and make the
most heartwarming dolls together!
