We are thrilled to have hosted the first ever convention for fashion doll artists! Over 60 people turned out for our event, which was held February 28 through March 3 at the Radisson Inn on Town Lake in Austin, Texas USA. We even had two Canadians and a Japanese friend come to play! We sincerely appreciate everyone's support, from the many dealers who sold in the salesroom to the artists who came to meet each other and promote their work. We held a competition, entitled Pure Imagination, which brought forth a bevy of beauties in many styles.

Joe Bourland's "The Orient's Fire" won best overall, barely edging out Linda Leake-Beard's masterpiece, shown below.
Sharon Lawson captured third place with her stunning entry!
A charity auction was held, benefiting SafePlace, on Saturday night. Many attendees proclaimed that this was their favorite event, due to the excitement generated by the crowd and also by Drew the auctioneer, and Rebecca, the barefoot doll presenter. Tess Barton's Peridot sold for a whopping $300!
Dan Lee's Craisy Daisy went for $240.
Karen Cooper's Mackie Showgirl went for $200.
Every doll had frenzied bidding on her, which alleviated the stress felt by all the donating artists in attendance!
Other events included show and tell, a fashion show, a salesroom open to the public, tons of workshops by noted artists, karaoke fun, and lots and lots of room shopping! Please join us next year in LAS VEGAS!!!! Springtime 2003!!!! I'll be there with bells on!!! Please email me at blackfrancie@hotmail.com for further information.
