It wasn't long after that I began researching the procedures for making One of a Kind (OOAK) dolls. I stumbled upon Renee Coughlan's web site and was enchanted. From there I searched out Yahoo groups for doll customizing and found Jim Faraone's group, Fashion Doll Makeovers. I was thrilled to be accepted into his group. From there I joined more groups, Custom Dolls; run by Rebecca Chulew, Artists of OOAK; run by Sabrina Guidice, and Juan's Necklace; run by Juan Albuerne of Spain. Doll customizers are the friendliest people I have ever met. Everyone has been so helpful when a question is asked.
Soon I learned to repaint and advanced to more sophisticated clothing. I sell on Ebay under this name, fantasy-dolls-by-d. This very addicting pastime has become an obsession. Maybe it is because I never owned a Barbie as a kid, but my doll painting and costuming soon turned to collecting. I now have almost 150 dolls in my collection and it is growing weekly. My mailman is getting a backache from all the packages of dolls he brings to my house!
