Sea Breeze is my first mermaid. I really enjoyed making her, so I am
sure more mermaids are in my future. The doll was a Florida Vacation
Midge head and Surf City Midge body. Her tail is made of a stretchy,
slightly sparkly coral fabric that I found in a thrift store, and her tail and
fins are made of organza. She is embellished with glitter and a variety of
glass and crystal beads. I made Sea Breeze for fun so she may be
available for sale or swap after the contest.
I work full-time for Industrial Engraving and Printco
Industries, which are my family's third generation, manufacturing
corporations. I have a telecommuting position that involves a lot of
different things, including web design and administration of both
companies' sites. I have many outside interests including soap and
candlemaking, which has become a small hobby business for me.
My husband and I are both graduates of the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in
Elementary Education/English, and Matt has a Bachelor of Arts in
Business Administration/Finance. We live in Wisconsin, in the country,
on a few acres overlooking a pretty little river with our 3 cats and
dog, along with several koi and Japanese goldfish.
I began doll customization in the spring of the year 2000, and while I do not
make as many dolls as I'd like to due to time constraints and simply being
a slow worker:), I thoroughly enjoy it. I mostly make dolls for swaps and
contests. So far I have only worked with 11 1/2 inch dolls, but I would like
to try working on larger dolls in the future. I hope to meet lots of you at the
CustomDolls 2002 Convention!
